Hot air ballooning over the Grand Canyon? Technically, it’s forbidden within the borders of Grand Canyon National Park… but this is about as close to it as you can get.
Welcome to the Page/Lake Powell Hot Air Balloon Regatta. Now in its 4th year, the 3-day festival takes place in the small town of Page, Arizona. The event attracts balloonists from all over the United States to take advantage of Northern Arizona’s beautiful autumn weather and spectacular views of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and the Colorado River.
The festival events consist of sunrise balloon launches Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning at various locations throughout the town. On Saturday, Lake Powell Boulevard, the town’s main drag, is shut down so citizens from Page, Kanab and the Navajo Nation can enjoy a street fair with live entertainment, food and craft vendors, followed by the now-famous balloon glow in the evening.
The Page/Lake Powell Balloon Regatta takes place the first weekend in November. Those interested in attending this event next year should seek hotel reservations in Page, Arizona, or Kanab, Utah.
